Fulltiming with Steve and Linda

We don’t consider the full timing we do camping. Our Newmar Dutchstar RV has better facilities than most small apartments. We began full timing in a 5th wheel trailer and moved up to a class A motor home in 2005. Our 4X4 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited makes taking day trips anywhere easy. Linda uses the internet for work, to search for fun things to do, campgrounds with wireless internet and maps of various areas to get Steve lost in. Our dogs have always loved traveling with us and sometimes we get our girls, or other family members, to also go on trips with us.

Currently we spend the summers in Michigan and the winters in Texas where there is hot weather instead of snow. In December 2007 we took our first trip home to Michigan for Christmas. The roads in the Midwest were bad with cars in the ditch everywhere. It was slow going but we made it there and back without incident.

Steve does work camping in Texas and does various tasks for family while home in Michigan. He spends quite a bit of time doing computer support for family, friends and people in the campground. Linda works as a consultant for an insurance company but spends her free time doing genealogy research. She has quite a database of ancestors and there always seems to be someone new to research and document.

Ask Steve for some funny stories about Linda’s travel navigation efforts. Sometimes she forgets about maps and plays computer games instead. Linda would really like to have internet access while driving down the road so she can check out things on Google Earth or Wikipedia. She always makes notes about things to look up later on the Yahoo or Google search engines: song lyrics, music, current weather, travel points of interest, campgrounds and ancestry stuff. It would be nice to be able to check the yellow pages and find where the nearest WalMart, Lowes, Target or Home Depot is while traveling. It's hard to imagine living on the road without access to the internet and our cell phones.
